Welcome to the San Felipe - Del Rio CISD Department of Curriculum and Instruction page
At SFDRCISD, we are dedicated to ensuring access to a guaranteed and viable curriculum, with the ultimate goal of nurturing lifelong learners. It is our firm belief that education is the cornerstone of personal and societal progress, and it is our mission to provide every child within our district with the promise of a high-quality education.
To achieve this mission, we have adopted a district-led reform initiative known as "The Planning Protocol," which places the focus on an easily accessed local curriculum, aligned to state standards and a collaborative process for the design of instruction. This research-based approach is built on the principle that excellence in teaching is not a matter of chance, but a product of careful and purposeful planning. The Planning Protocol guides our educators in creating engaging, rigorous lessons that empower our students to excel academically, and ultimately, to become college and career-ready individuals.
One of the key pillars of our approach is fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. We have instituted daily common planning time for our teachers, led by campus instructional leaders. During this time, educators share best practices and design differentiated activities that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
Our curriculum at SFDRCISD is firmly anchored in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which serve as the foundation for instructional content in core areas such as English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. To ensure alignment and consistency, our teachers rely on the TEKS Resource System (TRS), which encompasses TEKS Verification Documents, Instructional Focus Documents (IFD), Year-at-a-Glance (YAG), and Vertical Alignment Documents (VAD).
The District is committed to the success of every student, and our Department of Curriculum and Instruction is proud to partner with campuses and other departments on our journey towards educational excellence. We are dedicated to supporting our educators with the tools and support they need to help our students reach their full potential.
We invite you to explore our Department of Curriculum and Instruction and witness the dedication, innovation, and collaboration that drive our mission to provide an outstanding education for every child in our district. Together, we are shaping the future, one lesson at a time.
